Osteoporosis Program

The osteoporosis program at S.P.O.R.T.S is a group class that focuses on the major determinants of a osteoporotic fracture which include: Loss of balance & posture, lower limb strength bone fragility and falls. It accomplishes this by improving the following:

  1. Muscle Strength
    Strength is developed in our program through the use of progressive resistive exercises, functional movements and the
    vibration platform. Muscular strength can lower the risk of falling and has a positive effect on bone density.
  2. Balance and Posture
    Balance and posture are enhanced by challenging the body to perform Movements on unbalanced surfaces,
    strengthening exercises and the vibration platform. Improved balance and posture reduces the chances of a fall.
  3. Bone Density
    Bone density can improve in our program by application of a progressive resistive load to appropriate structures,
    guidance of nutrition, stimulation with vibration, and medical intervention through your doctor.
